MIXING SPECIFICATIONS.

FILE FORMAT & RESOLUTION.

  • EXPORT TYPE: Export all individual stems as uncompressed WAV or AIFF files. Compressed formats (MP3, AAC, M4A) lack the quality required for high-fidelity mixing.

  • BIT DEPTH: 24-bit or 32-bit Float is preferred. Do not apply bit-depth downscaling during export.

  • SAMPLE RATE: Maintain the native session resolution (44.1kHz up to 96kHz). Do not upsample low-resolution tracking sessions.

GAIN STAGING & HEADROOM.

  • THE -6dB RULE: Aim for all individual stems to peak no higher than -6 dBFS. This preserves essential digital headroom and prevents clipping across our mix bus architecture.

  • MASTER BUS PROCESSING: Remove any master-bus brickwall limiters, global safety clippers, or multi-band master equalisation curves from your stereo output prior to exporting your stems.

  • BALANCE PRESERVATION: Keep your relative volume balances matching your rough mix intent. This gives us a clear understanding of your creative direction.

TRACK CONSOLIDATION.

  • ALIGNMENT: Every single stem must begin at the exact same starting timestamp (Bar 1, Beat 1 / 0:00) so they lock into phase alignment instantly when imported into the project session.

  • CLEANING: Ensure all audio parts are recorded to the best of your ability. Strip out unwanted digital clicks, pops, or accidental microphone thumps, while preserving any intentional texture, room ambience, or hardware noise.

  • EXPORT LENGTH: Ensure all stems are exported with sufficient room left at the end of the arrangement. Allow all reverb tails, delay lines, and hardware decays to fade out naturally to absolute silence.

CREATIVE ARRANGEMENT.

  • DECISION MAKING: Do not export multiple versions or alternative takes of a single channel. Make your final creative choices during production and submit only the definitive version of each sound.

  • TRACK COMPING: Consolidate layered parts where appropriate. If a sound consists of multiple identical layers that do not require independent spatial panning or separate frequency processing, please blend and export them onto a single, cohesive stem.

  • EFFECTS RETURNS: Print all essential wet creative effects (reverbs, delays, modulation) onto their own dedicated stereo return stems.

LOGISTICS & ARCHIVING.

  • NAMING: Apply numeric, capitalised prefixes to your file names so they auto-sort logically in the DAW. This ensures an efficient setup process. Example: [01_KICK], [02_SNARE], [05_BASS_DI].

  • REFERENCE: Include a stereo bounce of your current arrangement labelled [ROUGH_MIX_REFERENCE].

  • METADATA: Include a text file outlining the explicit project BPM, musical key, and time signature.

TRANSMISSION & DELIVERY.

  • DELIVERY: Compress the entire project folder into a single .ZIP or .RAR archive before uploading. This prevents file corruption and ensures a secure, single-link download.

  • VARIANTS: If your project requires alternative passes (e.g., instrumentals or radio edits), clearly outline these requirements within your metadata text file.

  • ARCHIVE RETENTION: Ensure you retain a local backup of your raw session stems. Jarman Music maintains active client project archives for 12 months following final master delivery.
